AYY + TOKYO Design Notebook
TOKYO has organised a yearly calendar design competition since 1975. In the digital age, however, the yearly printed calendar had become a nuisance: less and less students make use of printed calendars, thus an increasing number of those yearly calendars were left unboxed and undistributed. AYY and TOKYO wanted to renew the goals of the competition and aimed for a multi-year notebook with possible calendar features.
AYY + TOKYO Design Notebook has 168 notebook pages with 12 different page layouts (empty, 2 ruled, 3 plaid, 2 dotted, 2 isometric, and 2 for type design). A multi-year calendar design can be used for 2,5 freely selectable years and the 15-month project calendar helps the user to organise their time and work efficiently. The interesting extras include paper sizes, unit and size conversions, time zones, typographic knowledge, cyrillic alphabet and Japanese kanas.
The clothed cover feels warm and slightly flexible in the user's hands and the paper choice (Munken Pure 80g) was made to offer a pleasant writing experience. The bookmark keeps the user organised, and due the highly international user base the whole content of design notebook is naturally in Finnish, Swedish and English.
